The
Brihan Mumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking displayed
Energy Conservation cloth banners at various prominent
places like Museum, Churchgate
Station, Mantralaya etc. giving the message of
Energy Conservation such as “Share a Lamp, Save
an Amp”, “Save Power for National Productivity”,
“Waste of Electricity can cut your Income” & “Give
your Light a Lunch Break too”.
The Brihan Mumbai Electric Supply and Transport
Undertaking have Energy Conservation Training Bus
(called Saudamini, Photo enclosed). The public
awareness programmes were conducted with the help
of our Saudamini at various public places. In the
programme our officers had delivered lecturers
on the subject of Energy Conservation along with
viewing of Video Cassettes giving the information/
message regarding the Energy Conservation of Electricity.

Undertaking have pasted your “Key of Energy Conservation
… “ Poster to all our various departments and distributed
the pamphlets with 1300 zerox copies among the
Mumbai public.

children at Ranoli Village on 18th December 2004.
The programme was very well received by about 250
students and CD of “Bijli Bachao” shown.
Similar programme for school children and leaders

Jolwa.

Energy Management Center since
its inception in 1996 has been conducting energy
conservation activity in the state of Kerala.
On the National Energy Conservation Day many programmes
in the state from 15th Nov to 14th Dec 2004 had been
organized, observing the period as Energy conservation
Month.
Awareness programme in association with ANERT,
Electrical Inspection Department, Govt of Kerala,
Energy Conservation Society, Petroleum Conservation
and Research Association, Kerala State Electricity
Board (KSEB) etc.
The Kerala State Energy Conservation Awards
has been given in 6 different categories – Large
Scale Enterprise, Medium Scale Enterprises, Small
Scale Enterprises, Research & Innovations,
Non Governmental Organisation & Individual
in their efforts to recognize energy efficient
excellence.

Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Ltd.
Programmes organized in the twin cities of Hyderabad
and Secunderabad are as follows.
The inaugural function on Energy Conservation
Day and week was organized on 14-12-2004 in association
with Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce & Industry,
(FAPCI), Hyderabad. A seminar was also conducted
by inviting the participants from various sections
like engineering industries, transport, Power generation/
distribution commercial establishments etc.

The valedictory function of the Energy Conservation
Week was organized on 21.12-04 at Bharatiya Vidya
Bhavan, Hyderabad in association with the Andhra
Pradesh Productivity Council, Hyderabad and the
Hon’ble Minister for Major Industries, Govt. of
Andhra Pradesh is the Chief Guest. Awards were
also distributed to the students who have participated
in the competitions conducted during the Energy
Conservation Week. A seminar was also organized
by involving the sectors like commercial organizations,
buildings/ establishments etc.

Mother Dairy Celebrates Energy
Conservation Week 14th to 21st December, 2004
Bureau of Energy Efficiency in association with
PCRA, New Delhi organized an interactive meet with
housewives and school Children of Mother Dairy,
Delhi on 18th December 2004. Around 30 housewives
and 20 school children participated in the meet.
During the interaction, simple tips on saving electricity
at home As well as saving LPG were communicated
to the participants. A quiz programme was also
organized which beside creating Awareness help
in making the pro9gramme highly interactive.
Bureau of Energy Efficiency in association with
ALT Center Ghaziabad arranged two Hour interact
meet with the BSNL office on spreading Awareness
on Energy Conservation Act as well as on the Various
energy conservation opportunities as applicable
in Commercial establishments. Participants included
BSNL officials
Devi Ahilya Vishwa Vidayalaya , Indore invited
Bureau of Energy Efficiency to have interaction
with student from 1st semester And 3rd semester
of m tech course on energy management. Faculty
from Bureau of Energy Efficiency informed the students
about various Provisions of the Energy Conservation
Act and various voluntary and mandatory measures
initiated of power and Bureau of Energy Efficiency.
The students were also apprised on the various
Technologies being adopted by various sub-sector
of the Industry and need for establishing energy
management system In order to initiate and sustain
energy conservation efforts. The Students belonged
to industry and educational institutions.
Amity Institute of Energy & Environment,
New Delhi organized a three day workshop on 22-24
December
2004. About 25 Participants representing steel,
power, petroleum, transport and zinc sectors
participated in the above workshop. Director
General (BEE) and
Energy Economist (BEE) interacted with Delegates
on the various voluntary and policy initiatives
Undertaken by the Government to promote energy
efficiency in the country.

Energy conservation week celebrated
form 11/12/2004 to 18/12/2004 by Raymond
Limited, Textile Division – Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh. Different
competitions like; Awareness Test, Slogan, Poster
and Suggestion on energy conservation organized during
this week. Awareness test held on 11/12/2004, for
this competition question papers were distributed
at Search Gate in all Shifts. 200 participants participated
in this awareness test and 10 participants were selected
for award.
In Poster competition 4 participants were selected
for award. The main function held on 14/12/2004 and
Mr. Vinod Padmanabhan – General Manager (Works) was
Chief Guest of this function & Mr. S. C. Agarwal
– General Manager-Engg. Was presiding the function.
To improve awareness for energy conservation an
exhibition was organized named “Urja Jagruti – 2004”.
Mr. Vinod Padmanabhan – General Manager (Works) inaugurated
the above exhibition the exhibition was opened for
all employees from 11/12/20044 to 18/12/2004.
Mr. S. K. Singhal (Vice President
– Textiles, Raymond Ltd.) visited this exhibition
on 18/12/2004. Pamphlets
containing tips on energy conservation were distributed
at nearby town like Lodhikheda & Sausar on their
market day i.e. on 14/12/2004 & 16/12/2004.

Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited
(KREDL) has launched the energy conservation programme
to observe Energy Conservation Week. In this regard
it organised seminar on Energy Conservation Week.
Five major firms firms dealing with several aspsects
fo energy conservation have presented papers and
explained the salient features of their products
and their exhibited energy efficient equipment.
KREDL has relaeased a Kannada version book of
BEACON issued by BEE. To propagate energy conservation
message, pamphlets were distributed through newspapers
distributors, which had reached large masses.

Maharashtra
Energy Development Agency (MEDA) MEDA celebrated National Energy Conservation
day and week in different sectors of state. MEDA
has organised a numbe of activities to celebrate
National Energy Conservation Day on 14th December
2004 and Energy Conservation Week from 14 to 21st
December 2004. MEDA tried to reach to maximum number
of peoples from different sectors in the State to
promote the importance of energy conservation and
energy efficiency.

DSK Award Ceremoney at IIE, Pune.
- 17th December 2004 - Seminar on Energy Conservation
in Dairy Industries.
- 18th December 2004 - Inaugural function of demonstrative

IFFCO, Phulpur Unit celebrated
National Energy Conservation Week from 14th December
04 to 21st December 2004. The details of the programme
are as follows:
A. Slogan competition and Display of Banners:
Slogans on the theme of Energy Conservation were
invited from employees and the best five slogans
were displayed in the factory and township at important
locations.
B. Presentation on Energy Conservation:
Following presentations were arranged in the conference
room of Technical Department.
i) Response to Energy & Environmental Concern
-by Mr. Diwakar Misra
The presentations were highly informative and
the speaker emphasized the priority for energy
conservation.
Recent sharp rise in Crude Oil prices, its various
reasons and possible impact on the economy were
elaborated. The speaker outlined the positive
role of government policies on energy conservation.
Energy Act 2001, role & duties of Energy Manager & Auditors
were explained.
ii) General Aspects of Energy Conservation in
Process Industries: -by Piyush Misra
The speaker outlined various steps to be taken
in process industries in order to achieve energy
conservation. Relevant topics like efficient insulation,
energy losses due to throttling in process streams,
etc. were covered.

Energy Development Agency (CREDA) - Campaign on Energy Conservation Week.
- Campaign through banners, slogans and stickers
to convey the message of "Energy Conservation".
- Organized various competitions like painting, Essay & Slogan
writing, quiz and debate etc. inmany schools and
the response of students was vary enthusiastic. The
winners
were awarded by CREDA.
- Organized many camps for Solar Cooker and L.P.G,
geyser demonstrations.
- Organized an "Energy Conservation rally" in
Raipur from Anand Nagar to Energy Education Park.
- Organized several events of public addresses to disseminate
the technology of Energy Conservation Equipments etc.
- Many newspapers had also rendered throughout publicity
to "Energy Conservation Week".

MP Urja Vikas Nigam Limited, Bhopal
On the Occasion of ‘National Energy Conservation
Day i.e. 14th December’ M P U V N Ltd; celebrated
Energy Conservation Week for the popularization
of energy efficiency in public specially amongst
the school going children. This year emphasis has
been given to educate the children about energy
conservation in addition to activities in other
sectors, for this a special booklet comprising
the information with interactive method and subject
based puzzles; has been published titled ‘Urja
Bahumulya Hai’.
During this week many programmes were organized
through the State of Madhya Pradesh. In all the
districts of the State, awareness programmes
were organized and literature distributed for
energy conservation in Commercial buildings,
domestic sector, Industries and agriculture sector
through the district Offices of M. P. Urja Vikas
Nigam Ltd.
Apart from the above some of the highlights
of the celebrations were as under:
14th November, 2004 - Inaugural programme with
the release of ‘Booklet’ for children on Energy
Conservation.
The Chairman, M. P. Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd., released
a Booklet on Energy Conservation for school children.
The ‘Booklet’ was distributed in various schools
during the Energy Conservation Week. & Awareness
on ‘Energy Conservation’ programme for drivers/
mechanic was organized with the cooperation of
Nagar Nigam, Bhopal. The drivers and mechanics
were demonstrated energy conservation techniques
in automobiles. The programme was organized at
the workshop of Nagar Nigam, Bhopal so as to
give live demonstration. About 300 drivers and
mechanics were present during the programme along
with the officers of the Nagar Nigam.
15th November, 2004 - Energy conservation campaign
for unorganized sector and private sector was
organized at Gwalior. During the occasion information
about energy conservation was provided to private
workshop workers, drivers, electricians and mechanics.
16th November, 2004 - Energy audit / conservation
awareness Campaign for domestic sector was stared
in Canakya puri, Chunabhatti, Bhopal so as to
cover houses for energy conservation. House owners
including house wives were given information
about energy savings in houses during the usage
of domestic appliances. The programme was a big
success as housewives were very interested in
knowing small things in their daily lives that
could save energy and result in monthly savings
for them. Literature along with posters on energy
conservation were also distributed on the occasion.
17th November, 2004 - Awareness campaign for
use of Solar Water Heating System in place of
Geyser for reducing peak demand (energy conservation
as a Demand Side Measure –DSM) was also started.
In a typical middle class house about 30% of
the total energy is consumed by electric geyser.
Thus to create awareness about ‘Solar Water heater’
demonstration and awareness campaign was organized.
Literature was also distributed highlighting
the govt. policies and soft loan arrangements.
Since as per MNES policy this programme is being
implemented through private sector, the dealers
of all the manufacturing units were also encouraged
to participate in this awareness programme. There
were large numbers of bookings for the installation
of solar water heating systems. And the programme
was a big success.
18th November 2004 - Workshop/ Awareness campaign
for energy conservation in industries was organized
at Jabalpur. Representatives of various industrial
units were the participants. The participants
were given lectures on energy conservation measures
on various industrial activities. The presentation
was done with examples of case studies of energy
audit conducted by MPUVN. The case study of ‘Grey
Iron Factory’ was also discussed were energy
audit was conducted and large amount of savings
through energy conservation measures was observed.
The experts consisted of experts and consultants
involved in energy audits. Also literature of
energy conservation in industries was distributed
on the occasion.
19th November 2004 - City of Indore is also
called as the commercial city of Madhya Pradesh.
Thus in Indore Awareness campaign for Energy
Efficient lighting/technologies for domestic
and commercial sector was organized. To give
the programme wider coverage the Rotary Club
was associated. Representatives of commercial
organizations attended the meet in large members.
Information about energy conservation in commercial
buildings along with Demonstration were given.
Also literature was distributed to the participants.
20th November 2004 - All the schools were requested
to encourage their school children to participate
in Save Energy Campaign 2004. Students were invited
to send their entries with a note/jingle/drawing/slogan
or any other creative thing on Energy Conservation & Renewable
Energy (like Solar/Wind-bio-energy etc.). The
response to this programme was very good. The
children participated in large number and the
respective schools also promoted their work by
displaying them on school Notice Board.
During this campaign the concept of ‘Energy
Manager’ was introduced among school children
to create awareness for energy conservation and
use of Renewable energy in their daily life.
The best entries were selected for prizes and
certificates were issued to participating children.
