Notifying distribution transformers as notified equipment and appliances

The Ministry had recommended that the notification process would be concurrent with notification of labels, standards. Launch date of label is Jan 2004.

June 2003

Test Procedure and protocol for testing

The technical committee have identified the parameters for energy performance testing and have adopted the IS test procedure with minor modifications. Sampling and other protocols have also been drafted.

Selection of Laboratories for conduct of testing as per the agreed test procedure.

NABL approved laboratories identified. CPRI & ERDA identified for testing.

Conduct of testing for determining energy performance of different models

ERDA and CPRI have been identified. Utilities to acquire mobile test units and get accreditation.  The testing would start in the month of October 2003.

June 2003

 Enforcement Mechanism

Preparation of consumer awareness and education programme

This activity is linked to testing. Consumer awareness programme study would be commissioned in August 2003.

Launching of labels

This activity is linked to testing. Labels would be launched by January 2004.

January 2004

Commissioning of engineering economic-market study for fixing minimum energy performance standards

Study commissioned and likely to be completed by January 2004.

June 2004

Development of minimum energy performance standards

Recommendation for improving minimum standards prepared by January 2004 and notified by June 2004.
